Matthew Burch joined WBG back in 2020 after graduating from the University of South Carolina and starting his career as an Engineer in Training. Working under the guidance of WBG’s in-house Professional Engineer, Shawn Wood, Matthew gained practical experience across HVAC system design, preconstruction estimating, project coordination, and design/build delivery.

This foundation reflects WBG’s commitment to building technical expertise internally while supporting long-term professional growth.

Earning the Professional Engineer License

Matthew has officially conquered the PE exam thus earning his Professional Engineer (PE) license, a significant milestone in the engineering profession that reflects a high level of technical competency and commitment to continued development.  This achievement not only represents his personal dedication to his craft, but also reinforces the standard of excellence WBG maintains across our engineering and project team members. Across South Carolina, facility heads and building owners alike benefit from working with qualified professionals like Matt who have the formal engineering education coupled with real world construction experience.

Today, Matthew serves as a Sales Engineer within WBG’s Design/Build team, where he supports clients on HVAC capital projects, system upgrades, and collaborative preconstruction efforts. His combined experience in engineering, field coordination, and now professional licensure allows him to effectively bridge design intent with practical execution.
