WBG is proud to welcome Nate Branham to our Construction Team here in Columbia, SC. Although many of our customers and trade partners may have already crossed paths with Nate on a jobsite, we’re excited to officially introduce him and share the experience he brings to WBG.
Built From the Ground Up
Nate’s career in commercial construction didn’t begin behind a desk, it began in the field. Starting as a helper, he worked his way through the trades as an installer before advancing into project management. That progression gives him a unique perspective on every project, allowing him to understand both the technical demands in the field and the leadership required to successfully deliver complex commercial construction projects.
Construction has been part of Nate’s life for as long as he can remember. Growing up in South Carolina, he spent countless hours alongside his grandfather, a commercial general contractor, watching projects come to life, from the likes of banks, commercial buildings, and residential homes. More importantly, he witnessed the pride his grandfather took in every project. Those experiences left a lasting impression and inspired Nate to pursue a career in commercial construction.
A Diverse Construction Background
Beginning his career in commercial piping, Nate quickly gained experience across a wide range of industries, from traditional commercial buildings to large scale industrial and petrochemical facilities. Along the way, he developed a strong understanding of construction regulations, safety requirements, and quality standards that continue to shape his approach today.
Never satisfied with limiting himself to a single trade, Nate expanded his knowledge by working alongside sheet metal mechanics, pipefitters, and HVAC installers. That broad field experience allows him to communicate effectively with every trade on a project and understand the challenges each team faces during construction. Nate eventually transitioned into project management, where he discovered his passion for leading large commercial projects.
One project that stands out in his career was serving as Project Manager for the renovation of the Wade Hampton Building. The project required replacing 258 fan coil units throughout an occupied facility while maintaining an aggressive 180-day completion schedule.
Successfully coordinating multiple trades, maintaining project schedules, and delivering results under demanding conditions confirmed what Nate already knew.
“This is what I’m meant to do.”
WBG’s Work Culture
Since joining WBG, Nate says the company’s collaborative culture has made an immediate impression.
“Everyone here is working toward a common goal. I like the fact that our President’s office is right down the hall, and I can walk in anytime I have a question.”
That open communication and team first mindset are qualities that align closely with WBG’s approach to delivering successful projects for customers throughout South Carolina.
Building South Carolina’s Future
For Nate, construction has always been about more than completing another project.
“I enjoy being able to tell my kids and family that I helped build that. Knowing you’re part of South Carolina’s growth and seeing those projects years later makes this career rewarding.”
Whether helping construct healthcare facilities, manufacturing plants, educational campuses, or commercial buildings, Nate takes pride in knowing his work leaves a lasting impact on the communities WBG serves.
Outside of work, Nate enjoys spending time with his wife and watching their first child grow up in South Carolina. Whether cheering on the Gamecocks, playing a round of golf, or enjoying time outdoors, family remains at the center of everything he does. We are excited to welcome Nate to the WBG family and look forward to the leadership, experience, and dedication he will continue to bring to projects across South Carolina.
