At W.B. Guimarin & Co. our strength has always been rooted in the people behind the work. The addition of Von McBride to our BIM team reflects a blend of field experience along with technical design expertise that enhances how we deliver projects across South Carolina.

Von’s career began in the Virginia Beach and Newport News, Virginia region, where he spent five years in the industrial manufacturing space as a welder. What started as an opportunity influenced by a friend developed into a foundational of giving him the necessary understanding of fabrication and the realities of working in the field.

After relocating to Lugoff, South Carolina, Von continued welding locally while making an investment in his future. He enrolled in Central Carolina Technical College, pursuing an Associate’s degree in Engineering Design & Technology. For three and a half years, he balanced full-time evening work with daytime coursework, developing a strong technical foundation that would ultimately transition him into the design side of the industry.

Following graduation, Von expanded his experience by working with ENTRUST in Baltimore for a year before returning to South Carolina. He then joined a South Carolina new construction group where he spent two years gaining exposure to larger scale construction projects. During that time, he developed an understanding of how multiple trades coordinate in the field and became proficient in a variety of construction and design software platforms.

Today, Von plays a role within our BIM team where he leverages his creativity and technical skillset to bring projects to life before they ever reach the field. His experience gives him a practical perspective that directly corresponds to his modeling work.

Von holds an Associate’s degree in Engineering Design & Technology and has obtained advanced welding certifications. He is highly proficient in industry standard platforms such as Revit, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Navisworks, MicroStation, and Civil 3D, along with AutoCAD Electrical & MEP applications.
