The Challenge
As Ritedose Corporation continued to expand is pharmaceutical distribution operations here in Columbia, South Carolina, they were in need of opening a new warehouse facility that was fully capable of ensuring the strict environmental conditions needed for pharmaceutical storage, distribution and regulatory compliance. This projects required a mechanical solution that could efficiently condition the 277k sq. ft. facility with a 35 foot ceiling, meet the stringent temperature and humidity requirements, all within the schedule of the construction project.
The Solution
WBG’s Team was selected by the general contractor, Miller Valentine Construction, that headed this project due to our previous successful projects working with their team here in South Carolina. Working alongside MECA, whom served as the project’s engineering partner, WBG’s Design/Build Team designed and installed the HVAC systems utilizing DX cooling and air rotation units to achieve floor to ceiling precise temperature & humidity control. This approach to conditioning the facility maximized energy efficiency as well as ensured environmental control for the expansive warehouse space. By introducing an innovative approach to conditioning this facility, WBG demonstrated how our Design/Build Team can provide mechanical solutions for sites where precise temperature & humidity control are essential for ones operation. During the construction, our group also provided the needed mechanical systems for the 2-story administration, operations, and training area of the warehouse space.
