The Challenge

With Scout Motors coming into South Carolina to start production on their new line of EV vehicles, the need of having an onsite functional training center became an important part of preparing their future workforce. The 32,500 sq. ft. facility was designed to house administrative offices, classroom training spaces, as well as an active hands on learning environment that would simulate their nearby manufacturing operation. This project needed a mechanical contractor that had the knowledge, skilled team, and proximity to the project to deliver on an aggressive project schedule.

The Solution

Partnering with M.B. Kahn in a Design/Assist delivery approach, the WBG Team provided the construction package for the facility that included the HVAC systems, new construction plumbing, sheet metal / ductwork, and pneumatic systems. The HVAC system was designed to provide reliable comfort and performance across the various areas within the building being served by systems ranging from 4 to 10-tons in cooling capacity. For the 2 server/electrical rooms, WBG installed a dedicated ductless split system to provide continuous environmental control, along with a compressed air system and pneumatic piping to support the training areas all within the course of a years time. The Scout Motors Training Facility demonstrates WBG’s ability to support economic development projects by providing Design/Assist delivery of new construction projects here in South Carolina.
