The Challenge
Within Kershaw County’s School District, a total of their 5 schools were scheduled for major HVAC improvements during the summer break period. A mechanical contractor capable of being able to deliver upon multiple jobs simultaneously prior to the start of students, teachers, and administration coming back for the start of the school year. Each school had its own scope of work needed from boiler replacements, HVAC rooftop units, split systems, and new ductwork. The success was dependent on ones technical expertise, project management, and ones manpower to execute this overhaul to meet the hard deadline of these projects all at once.
The Solution
Working with Trane’s Performance Group, WBG’s Design/Build team completed the mechanical upgrades across the 5 Kershaw County Schools during the summer of 2020. With planning and close collaboration with Trane & Kershaw County School’s, WBG coordinated the equipment deliveries, manpower, and schedules to ensure all projects were complete prior to the students returning.
The complete work consisted of:
- Stover Middle School: Gym ductwork
- Doby’s Mill Elementary: Split system HVAC units & outdoor air units
- Pine Tree Hill Elementary: Split system HVAC units & outdoor air units
- Jackson Elementary: Boiler replacements
- North Central Middle School: Replacement of all HVAC package units
In leveraging WBG’s strategic partnership with Trane, along with our skilled team, we had managed all 5 projects simultaneously, delivering upon new mechanical systems that would improve the comfort and long term performance within the schools.
