Twenty-five years ago “Fight Club” hit the movie theaters, Napster’s music revolution was launched, and Brandon Livingston began his career with W.B. Guimarin & Co. Brandon’s intrigue in the HVAC space began even further back while he was in his high school years. Having taken an interest in the subject matter, he pushed on forward to get into the commercial HVAC world here in Columbia, South Carolina. After some conversations, Brandon ended up landing with the WBG team, and began working and continuing his education through our Apprenticeship Program.

“I had some great mentorship working with some of the older guys. Not only did I get real world experience, the guys I got to work with let me know what to identify in working on a system, and some of the tricks of the trade to get the equipment back up and running.”

One of the more memorable on-call moments early on in his career with WBG was running an emergency call at the Columbia Zoo. The main chiller tied to the bird house serving the penguin exhibit was down causing rising water temperatures for the animals. Brandon’s expertise and real world knowledge of working on commercial grade HVAC equipment got the exhibit’s water temperature back to its intended set point and the zoo, out of a jam.

“There’s been a lot of technological changes over the years since I started. I remember the days of having an on-call pager on hand…but communicating with the customer hasn’t. Building management systems can’t see everything that is going on, it’s on us to give the customer the information needed on what’s going on with their HVAC.”

In having 25 years of experience in the field, Brandon continues to provide our customers with HVAC solutions as being a mentor for the incoming apprentice’s within WBG’s Service Team. We thank Brandon for his continued commitment and celebrate his anniversary with the W.B. Guimarin Team.
